Lynda Loveland: Awkward

When you have kids, awkward moments in public are never too far off. I had a pretty good dry spell going until the other day.

I was sitting with Carys on the floor outside her ballet class and putting on her ballet shoes. There was a mom and her daughter sitting right next to us. The little girl told her mom, “That’s my friend” and pointed at Carys. Her mom asked if she knew her name. The girl didn’t so she asked Carys and Carys answered.

I said to Carys, “Do you know her name?” Carys said, "No." I said, “Would you like to ask her name?” Carys said, “No."

AWKWARD!

Unfortunately, this was not a quiet conversation. How exactly do you recover from something like that? Do you tell the other mom, sorry, thanks for the interest in my kid, but she couldn’t care less about yours? I think Carys was just having a weird, on the spot kind of moment, but still!!!

Any awkward moments that you’d like to share???
