Walmart shooting suspect turns himself in to Lumberton police

LUMBERTON, N.C. — The man accused of firing gunshots inside a Walmart store on Black Friday has turned himself in to Lumberton police officers.

Jarod Denzel Lowery, 26, of Lumberton, is at the Robeson County Jail under a $1 million bond.

Lowery is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, discharging a firearm within enclosure to incite fear and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Lumberton police said surveillance footage shows Lowery leaving the store as it was evacuated.

A 25-year-old man was hospitalized in the Black Friday shooting on Nov. 25 at 5070 Fayetteville Road. The man received treatment and was released from UNC Health Southeastern.

No one else was injured in the shooting, according to Lumberton police.

The Walmart reopened on Sunday morning.
