Lumberton officer arrested, suspended

A Lumberton police officer has been suspended without pay following his arrest Monday on drug and theft charges, authorities said Wednesday.

LUMBERTON, N.C. — A Lumberton police officer has been suspended without pay following his arrest Monday on drug and theft charges, authorities said Wednesday.

The State Bureau of Investigation charged Matthew Albert Miller with two counts each of embezzlement of property received by virtue of office or employment and trafficking in a Schedule II controlled substance by possession and one count of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud.

No details about his arrest were available.

Miller has worked with the Lumberton Police Department since July 2009.
