Lumberton mom charged with killing 1-year-old daughter

Lumberton, N.C. — A Lumberton woman was charged Thursday in the death of her 1-year-old daughter last year, authorities said.
Robeson County deputies went to Southeastern Health on July 9, 2019, after Jadalyn Barton was reported to be unresponsive and have multiple bruises on her body. The toddler died at the hospital.
An unidentified 17-year-old was charged two days later with first-degree murder and felony child abuse inflicting serious injury in connection with Jadalyn's death.
Sarah D. Hardin, 26, surrendered to investigators on Thursday and was charged with first-degree murder, felony child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury, statutory rape of a child 15 years old or less and assault on a child under the age of 12. She was being held without bond in the Robeson County jail.
