Lumberton man surrenders to deputies, is charged in shooting death
A Lumberton man who surrendered to Robeson County Sheriff's deputies on Saturday has been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of a man on Friday.
Posted — UpdatedOfficials said Johnny C. Norton, 52, of Lumberton, turned himself in around 11 p.m. at the Robeson County Sheriff's Office. He was also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Norton was placed in the custody of the Robeson County Detention Center with no bond. Norton was given a $100,000 secured bond for the weapon offense.
Deputies said they responded to the 2500 block of N.C. Highway 72 West in Lumberton in reference to a shooting. They found Brandon K. Hunt, 29, of Maxton, dead at the scene.
