Lumberton man charged in fatal Fayetteville shooting

Police are investigating a fatal shooting in Fayetteville on Sunday.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A man was arrested following a fatal shooting in Fayetteville on Sunday.

Around 1:30 a.m., officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to 119 Drake Street near Ramsey Street and Festival Park. At the scene, they found a man inside a car with a gunshot wound. The man, identified as Donald McNeil, 41, died at the scene, officials, said.

Bryan Charles Hunt, 38, of Lumberton, was charged with voluntary manslaughter and possession of a firearm by a felon. He was being held Monday in the Cumberland County jail under a $150,000 bond.

The shooting remains under investigation, but the suspect and victim knew each other, officials said. An altercation led to the shooting.
