Winning lottery tickets will allow Fayetteville, Warsaw men to buy houses

"I can’t wait to give her the deed that has her name on it," Young Suh said. "This is wonderful."

Suh’s good fortune started when he stopped at a Sunoco gas station on Ramsey Street in Fayetteville and bought some Quick Pick Cash 5 tickets for Thursday’s drawing. He checked the numbers Friday morning when he woke up.

"I checked the first ticket and only got one number," he said. "When I got to the last ticket and saw that I had all five numbers, I started laughing and ran to tell my wife. I just couldn’t believe it."

Suh claimed his prize at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required state and federal tax withholdings, he took home $795,489.

His ticket beat odds of 1 in 962,598 to win the jackpot, lottery officials said.

Meanwhile, a Duplin County man said he plans to get his dream home after he won a $250,000 lottery prize.

Tony Freeman of Warsaw bought a Carolina Black scratch-off ticket Friday morning at the Murphy USA gas station on Sunset Avenue in Clinton.

"I just stared at the ticket," Freeman said after he scratched off a win. "I didn’t feel real. I kept thinking, 'Is this really happening?' When I told my fiancée, she screamed so loud she woke the kids up. This is life-changing. I haven’t stopped grinning since it happened."

He also claimed his prize at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required state and federal tax withholdings, he took home $176,876.

"It’s a dream come true," he said. "My fiancée and I have wanted a house for a long time, and now we can. We want to get a four-bedroom home with a bit of a yard for our three kids."

The $5 Carolina Black ticket launched in March. One top $250,000 prize remains.
