ROXBORO, N.C. — Lines began forming at a COVID-19 vaccination clinic in Roxboro at 5 a.m., even though vaccinations aren't set to begin for several hours.

The drive-thru vaccination clinic located at Palace Pointe on Durham Road is open only to healthcare workers and staff and residents from long-term care facilities who fall under Phase 1a and senior citizens 75 and older from Phase 1b, group 1.

The vaccine is in limited supply and will be given to eligible patients on a first-come, first-served basis.

Health officials said they have a "sufficient supply" of vaccines and said they have enough to get everyone who is at the site on Wednesday vaccinated.

Video shows at least one hundred cars were in line by 8 a.m.

Shots won't begin going into patients' arms until 10 a.m. The first person who was in line at 3:45 a.m., Harry Grubbs, said he is eager to get the vaccine.

Grubbs, a senior citizen, said he is getting the coronavirus vaccine so he will be able to hug his granddaughter again.

Another clinic will be open at this same site on Friday morning.
