Duke Gardens, the Piedmont Wildlife Center and the Museum of Life and Science have teamed up to offer some virtual activities for some of us as we're hunkered down around home.

The Durham-Wide BioBlitz runs through Sunday, April 12, and provides an opportunity for those in Durham to learn a little bit about science and the world around them through a BioBlitz, which is a survey of all living things in an areas during a specific time. Once the information is gathered, professional scientists can use it in their research.

"Collecting data is especially important right now as researchers around the world are unable to travel or collect data themselves," according to Duke Gardens' website.

To participate in the Durham-Wide BioBlitz, all you need to do in Durham is make observations about living things around you and submit the information via the iNaturalist app.

"This BioBlitz is for Durham County, but we welcome our neighbors living in other parts of the Triangle, the state or the world to follow along as well," Duke Gardens' website says.

Much more information is available via Duke Gardens' website, including more information about how to participate.
