CLINTON, N.C. — Sampson Regional Medical Center was under lockdown Sunday night after police activity nearby.

Hospital employees told WRAL News the lockdown went into effect before 10 p.m. and was lifted before 11 p.m. Officials confirmed there was not a shooting at the hospital but did not have additional details.

Four minutes away from the hospital, in a neighborhood along Barden Street, three police cars were parked near Holmes Street. Crime scene tape was up.

WRAL Joe Fisher asked officers on scene for more information, but none was provided. Police did not confirm that the lockdown was connected.
