GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Your next trip to the dentist could be your chance to get a COVID-19 vaccine.

As more people get vaccinated, a local dentist has joined the front lines to administer shots and help everyone get vaccinated faster.

Riccobene Associates Family Dentistry's Dr. Michael Riccobene said his Goldsboro office received 100 Moderna doses this week. He has already given out several shots.

Staff at the office are calling patients who have upcoming appointments, and if they haven’t received a vaccine, they will be offered the chance to get one.

Riccobene was approved to vaccinate by the CDC, and his staff has been trained on everything from vaccinating to storing the vaccines.

For added safety, Riccobene said there is also a medical provider on call in case of any issues.

“One thing about getting it in the dental office is people are comfortable coming there," he said. "A lot of people were already used to dealing with diseases, so everyone is going to be in a proper PPE, so I think it’s a very comfortable environment to get the vaccine."

Riccobene said his office will be allocated doses every week. His goal is to vaccinate at other locations across the state as well.
