Local buffet finds ways to navigate coronavirus concerns
Baba Ghannouj in Research Triangle Park is known for its Mediterranean buffet, but it has had to make some adjustments due to the coronavirus.
Posted — UpdatedOwner Kaid Ghamayem said the restaurant has added glass around the buffet and servers are stationed by each item.
"One of my employees will just hand the food to you instead of you doing anything anymore," Ghamayem said.
Ghamayem is originally from Jerusalem and got his Master's in Business Administration at N.C. State. His first job when coming to North Carolina was at a Subway. He started Baba Ghannouji 10 years ago and originally had two locations - in Durham and Cary. He has since consolidated those locations into one large space in RTP.
With a typically strong lunch service due to nearby office parks, Ghamayem said it has been very difficult reopening during the pandemic.
"Nobody's back in the park yet for us so really reopening is not helping," he said, noting that they have added delivery within a 15 mile radius of the restaurant.
