CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The North Carolina Boys Choir and North Carolina Girls Choir will host open choir auditions for boys and girls.

The arts organization with a long history in the region is designed for both boys and girls ages seven to 18. According to the group's website, the choirs "perform in concerts throughout the area and take part in wider opportunities with other choirs. As the girls and boys progress within the choir, they study progressively more challenging music, are provided with educational opportunities; and travel locally, regionally, nationally, and abroad for performances."

Here are the dates for the open auditions:

  • Saturdays, August 25 and September 8, at 8:45 am or 11:00 am;
  • Mondays, August 27 and September 10, at 6:15 pm or 8:30 pm

They'll take place in the Fellowship Hall at Binkley Memorial Baptist Church, 1712 Willow Drive, Chapel Hill.

And here are some more details, according to the website:

  • At the auditions, girls and boys and their parents will have an opportunity to observe rehearsals.
  • No formal preparation of singing material or prior singing experience is required.
  • For the training choir, the group is looking for boys and girls with a pleasant singing voice, interest in music, and a basic music ability.
