Raleigh, N.C. — The Wake County Animal Center and other shelters want to make sure their dogs and cats have a warm, permanent home for Christmas.
Adoption fees have been lowered to $25 for dogs and "name your price" for cats through Dec. 22. The shelter is located at 820 Beacon Lake Drive in Raleigh. The shelter is open seven days a week from noon to 6 p.m.
According to the Wake shelter, the holidays often lead to overcrowding at shelters, as the people who foster homeless animals take time off to travel. There are currently about 100 dogs and 120 cats in the Wake shelter and foster care looking for their forever homes, according to a press release.
The Vance County Animal Shelter is offering free adoptions offered through Dec. 23 thanks to an anonymous donor.
The shelter is located at 1243 Brodie Road in Henderson.
