Someone once said, "Fill your life with experiences, not things. Have stories to tell, not stuff to show." If 2020 has taught us anything, it's how important it is to stay healthy, and to appreciate friends, family and the natural beauty all around us.

So, here are ways that you can not only "live your best life" in the new year, but here is how you can "make some memories" in Washington. Indeed, that's what living a great life is all about, isn't it?

Washington is the perfect place to enjoy healthy, fun activities and to "live your best life."

How about a kayak outing on the beautiful Pamlico River? Inner Banks Outfitters has you covered. They also offer stand up paddle board yoga on select Saturdays. Or exploring Washington on two wheels with a bicycle ride around downtown? Inner Banks, River Vibes or Pamlico Boat Rentals at Moss Landing Marina all have what you need to get fit and have fun while enjoying the great outdoors!

Walking more your style? Washington has the beautiful riverfront parkway and boardwalk to get those steps in. Jack's Greenway and Goose Creek State Park are excellent options, as well. Goose Creek boasts eight miles of hiking trails that meander through the estuarine areas of the park. Enjoy the wildlife and charm of nature that is teeming all around you.

Speaking of Goose Creek State Park, have you seen the cozy camping cabins they have available? They include heat, air conditioning, power outlets and outside charcoal grills. Now that's my kind of camping!

After cycling, hiking or any of these great recreational activities, you might need a nutritional boost to power through the rest of your day. A smoothie from River Vibes or Cups & Cones will fix you up (The coffee options at Cups & Cones can boost your body, mind and taste buds, too).

If your goal is to spend more time with your sweetie, or just spend more quality time with your kids, Washington is the perfect place to pick up some takeout from one of the many restaurants and picnic on the waterfront or Festival Park (all of this can be done while social distancing).

There are picnic tables available, and the Pamlico Riverview sunsets are breathtaking.

Your Washington experience will be even better with a stay at one of our many lodgings, such as the historic When Pigs Fly Inn, located a mere block from the waterfront.

You deserve to make memories that will last a lifetime. Experience Washington, N.C., and make this the best year ever.
