Live power lines stretched across Roxboro Street in Durham
A crash brought down a power pole and powerlines in Durham Thursday on Roxboro Street at Old Oxford Road.

DURHAM, N.C. — A crash brought down a power pole and power lines in Durham Thursday on Roxboro Street at Old Oxford Road.
The crash occurred before 6 a.m., leaving live power lines stretched across the street.
Police said the driver who crashed into the pole was likely speeding at 55 mph. Officers were at the scene trying to keep people away from the area.
The car has been removed, but repairs will need to be made before the route reopens.
Duke Street is the best alternate route, but delays are expected.
