Live cake challenge part of Wake Tech Culinary Arts Showcase

They had us at cake. Wake Tech will celebrate the 50th anniversary of their 2013 Culinary Arts Showcase on Tuesday at the Raleigh Convention Center.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Wake Tech will celebrate the 50th anniversary of their Culinary Arts Showcase on Tuesday at the Raleigh Convention Center.

The annual event is a feast for the eyes and stomach. It features the work of students, local chefs and industry professionals throughout the Southeast.

In addition to a live cake making challenge, there will be one of the largest American Culinary Federation pastry competitions in the nation.

Check out food demos, an ice carving exhibition, hands-on activities for the children, tastings from local restaurants and a silent auction of "foodie" favorites.

The event runs 4-7 p.m. at the Raleigh Convention Center and tickets are $10 at the door. Students get in for $5 and children under 5 years old get in free.
