RALEIGH, N.C. — Valentine's Day isn't just for couples -- but whether you're single or in a relationship, there are some new events to try in the Triangle this year.
Editor's Note: Valentine's Day falls on a Wednesday this year, and many events take place the weekend before the holiday. Double check event dates before securing your plans!

Dinner and treats

Valentine's Dinner at Il Palio - Enjoy a special four-course menu created by Executive Chef Teddy Diggs on Feb. 14.

Valentine's Dinner at Brio - The restaurant will feature a special menu Feb. 9 through 18, including several holiday inspired courses. Call for reservations.
Valentine's Day Italian Wine Dinner - Al's Burger Shack, Mel's Commissary & Catering and Italian Pizzeria III are collaborating on this Valentine's Day dinner. The six-course meal will feature Italian favorites paired with wine for $60 at Mel's in downtown Carrboro.
Valentine's Day at The Capital Grille - On Tuesday, Feb. 13, The Capital Grille is offering guests a generous evening with complimentary Veuve Clicquot Brut Rosé, champagne and hand-dipped chocolate covered strawberries. The restaurant is also taking reservations for Valentine's Day.
Corks and Cakes - The Wine Feed will pair expertly chosen wines with light, fluffy cupcakes from The Cupcake Shoppe on Sunday, Feb. 11. This year's flight includes four Valentine's Day themed mini cupcakes and a paired wine tasting flight for just $18.
Videri + Fullsteam Chocolate & Beer Pairing
Videri + Fullsteam Chocolate and Beer Pairing - This pairing, led by Videri Chocolate Factory's Sam Ratto, will take place on Sunday, Feb. 11 at Fullsteam, featuring five Videri confections creatively paired with five Fullsteam beers. Tickets are available online.
Valentine Aphrodisiac Tasting - Unscripted Hotel will feature a five-course tasting inspired by aphrodisiac foods accompanied by molecular mixology cocktails prepared by Bedlam Vodka. There will be music by DJ Mic Check.
Valentine's Day at the Washington Duke Inn - On Feb. 14, indulge in a four-course menu created with starry-eyed lovebirds in mind, featuring amuse-bouche, choice of appetizer, entrée and dessert. The love affair runs from 6:30 to 10 p.m. and costs $75 per person.

For the creative

Want to try something new this holiday? Unscripted Durham is offering two Valentine's Day-themed add-on packages for hotel stays booked Feb. 9 through Feb. 19:

Over the Moon Helicopter Rides - Guests can enjoy a 25-minute helicopter tour over downtown Durham and milk chocolate stars from local producer Chocolatey Confections. Plus, name a star after their significant other. Add-on price is $420.
Multisensory Love - This second package includes a multi-sensory experience with milk chocolate hearts from Chocolatey Confections, locally curated gift bags, and a personalized fragrance. Guests will have a consultation with a fragrance artist, who will work with them to create a custom scent. Add-on price is $320.
Stupid Cupid Karaoke - Edwards Mill Bar and Grill is hosting a Stupid Cupid Karaoke Night on Feb. 14 at 9 p.m. with karaoke, drink specials, mini cheesecakes, and more.
Valentine's Day Omakase - This five-course meal at Dashi is different, because it entrusts your order to the chef. Omakase is, essentially, a chef's tasting menu. On Feb, 14, Chef Billy Cotter will send out the freshest and most delicious dishes of the day.
Sip and Pour - Join Traine in downtown Raleigh for a candle-making class on Feb. 11! There will be yummy beverage, cocktails and appetizers, and attendees can make beer scented candles or pick from other scents. Price is $50.00 per attendee.

Shows, parties and markets

Valentine's Day Pop-Up Market - Need a gift for your loved one or one for yourself? Joe Van Gogh in Raleigh will feature 10 local vendors selling jewelry, clothing, flowers, prints, pottery, greeting cards, vintage goods, essential oils and more on Sunday, Feb. 11.
Valentine's Day Gala - Enjoy a range of musical styles, from opera to bluegrass, and all having to do with love, at this gala presented by the Clayton Piano Festival. Several artists will perform. The ticketed show takes place on Feb. 14 at 6:30.
Anti-Valentine's Day Party - 5 Lounge and Discotorium is hosting a party on Feb. 14 for all the singles out there. There will be good music and lots of dancing.
Sam Cooke Soul Revue Valentines Special - This free Valentine's Day show at The Bullpen features soul singer Thomas Rhyant, who will serenade all the lovers and lonely hearts out there with classic Sam Cooke hits from the golden era of soul and R&B. This show starts at 8:30.
Valentine's Day Singles Mixer - Looking to meet someone? The Lynk on Glenwood Avenue is hosting a party on Thursday, Feb, 8 for singles to network.

Doing good

Galentine's Day - Ladies can enjoy massages, goodie bags, food and wine, flower and beauty workshops, giveaways, a photo booth and more at The Cannon Room on Tuesday, Feb. 13. A portion of each ticket will be donated to Headbands of Hope.

Paws and Pours - On Saturday, Feb, 10, BottleMixx's annual wine-tasting event is back with snacks, drinks and adoptable animals who are looking for their forever home for Valentine's Day. Tickets are $20 per person and the proceeds go fully to the animals at Second Chance.
Valentine's Day Food Drive - Bring a can of food (or several) to Ponysaurus Brewing on Valentine's Day between 3 and 11 p.m. and enjoy a pint in the taproom.
