List: Businesses who are helping federal furloughed workers by offering discounts, freebies

As the U.S. government's shutdown stretches into a second month, several businesses and companies are offering help to federal workers who have gone without a paycheck since December.

RALEIGH, N.C. — President Donald Trump and Congress agreed to reopen the government Friday after a 35-day shutdown. For federal workers who have gone without a paycheck since December, several businesses and companies offered help.

With up to 8,000 federal workers stationed in North Carolina, the discounts and deals could have a sizable impact on the Tar Heel State. The government will be reopened for three weeks as Trump and lawmakers negotiate over Trump's border wall.

'The workers will be eligible for back pay but no one knows when the federal government will reopen.

Here's a partial list of places offering assistance, deals or discounts for the furloughed federal workers:

BANKING/FINANCIAL SERVICES:
Bank of America: The Charlotte-based bank has set up an assistance line for those who need help. Workers should call the banks' Client Services Support Line at 844-219-0690.
Democracy Federal Credit Union: According to CNN, the credit union is offering a short-term emergency loan with 0 percent interest, lending director Antoine McStay told CNN. Bankers are also referring customers with specific concerns to their in-house financial counseling services, he said.
First Bank: North Carolina's largest community bank, is offering interest-free loans, among other options, to furloughed Federal workers. This offer is open to all affected workers, regardless if they are a current First Bank customer. First Bank is offering a 90-day, no-interest loan up to $10,000. Furloughed First Bank clients who incur an overdraft or account service fee during this time (related to minimum or average collected balance) can request that it be refunded. Additionally, those with a First Bank credit card can also request a skip-a-payment option for the duration of the shutdown. For more info: go to First Bank
First Command Financial Services: According to CNN, the bank is offering its members who are federal employees interest-free payroll advances, as well as other assistance.

RESTAURANTS/DINING:
Fortnight Brewery: is offering a free dinner to federal workers and those impacted by the shutdown on Friday, Jan. 25.
Pot Belly: The national sandwich chain is offering buy-one-get-one free sandwiches.

GROCERY STORES/RETAIL/PERSONAL SERVICES:
Diaper Bank of North Carolina (DBNC): The organization will host a special distribution of diapers and other personal hygiene supplies to families impacted by the federal government shutdown. The first distribution event for families impacted by the shutdown will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 30 from 11 am to 2 pm on the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina campus, which is located at 1965 Ivy Creek Blvd in Durham in Building 200.
Tanger Outlets: The outlet mall operator is offering perks to furloughed workers that include a free $20 gift card through Jan. 28.
Pot Belly: The national sandwich chain is offering buy-one-get-one free sandwiches to unpaid workers through the weekend.
Walmart: The retailer has committed $300,000 to support programs, including feeding America's shutdown response fund.
TRANSPORTATION
GoTriangle: The transit agency is offering free fares on all of the agency's routes for federal programs who are required to work during the prolonged shutdown.
Hyundai: The automaker is deferring all vehicle loan-and-lease payments owed by out-of-pay federal workers for a month, according to NBC News.
