Good morning. I'm meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner. Some big changes starting today. Our wind begins to come out of the southwest warming things up. So we will be in the sixties for highs today and seventies for the next couple of days and that may sound great, but we have a front that comes through on Sunday. So Sunday is actually a WRL weather alert day. We have a level one risk for severe storms on Sunday. The biggest threat would be, um, the potential for some wind damage during the evening. Uh So we'll be watching out for that during the day on Sunday. Let's take a look at the timeline of that again. We're nice and dry for today and much of tomorrow as well. We may see some late night showers and certainly by early Sunday morning, we're seeing some scattered rain. You can see that there at 8 a.m. The best chance for heavier rain will come when the front arrives, that won't happen until during the evening. So you can see at 6 p.m. that heavier band of rain that moves on through late in the evening, maybe early early Monday morning, it will turn much cooler behind this front. So the mountains may see a bit of snow, late Sunday night into early Monday. It felt a little bit on Wednesday too. So, hey, you know, get lucky to have a white Christmas up there. We're looking around town today. Temperatures in the mid sixties and Raleigh and Durham 65 in Fayetteville. So definitely a nice mild day for it today. Lots of events happening tonight is Zebu's Deck. The halls and the temperatures look great for that 57 at around five o'clock, 48 at nine o'clock. Nice and dry. That's a really fun community event there. And then of course, we have parades on Saturday at Durham Fayetteville and Springs all kick off at 10 a.m. Temperatures will be in the mid to upper fifties for those parade start times and then carry at two o'clock in the mid sixties should be just lovely under partly cloudy skies. Here's a look at the big picture, our cold front back to the west. You can see that low and that front moving across the middle of the country. That's what's going to come through here and bring us that chance of rain and also a big jump in our temperature. It's also going to create a cooler pattern for next week as well. So definitely warmer weekend, you can see the dark color contours as we climb up into the seventies. But then by Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, we're back to the cooler than normal temperatures, which is a very typical pattern for us. So looking at 64 today, 70 Saturday, 71 on Sunday. But behind Sunday's front with some rain and thunderstorms, our temperatures are turning cooler. It looks like we could see anywhere from an inch to an inch and a half of much needed rain on Sunday.

Police said a suspect was found dead Wednesday as officers responded to an active shooter and reports of multiple victims at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

They're afraid they're scared. Our officers are going unit by unit building by building with the university police and the rest of the police officers, firefighters, ems and making sure that we don't have any additional victims and, or subjects. Las Vegas police speak about about shooting at UNLV

Police said a suspect was found dead Wednesday as officers responded to what officials of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, called a "confirmed active shooter" on campus.

<p>SO POSTED ON SOCIAL MEDIA THERE WERE REPORTS OF SHOTS FIRED IN THE STUDENT UNION, AND THEY URGED PEOPLE TO EVACUATE THE AREA AND RUN, HIDE OR FIGHT. LET'S GET RIGHT TO NBC INVESTIGATIVE CORRESPONDENT, TOM WINTER, TRACKING DEVELOPMENTS. &gt;&gt; Reporter: AS YOU LAID OUT, RIGHT NOW, OUR UNDERSTANDING FROM LAW ENFORCEMENT IN LAS VEGAS, FROM WHAT THEY'RE SAYING PUBLICLY, THEY ARE GOING FROM BUILDING TO BUILDING, ROOM TO ROOM, TO SEARCH FOR ANY POTENTIAL ADDITIONAL VICTIMS. AT THIS POINT THEY BELIEVE THE SHOOTER, AS YOU SAID, THE SUSPECTED SHOOTER IN THIS INCIDENT IS DOWN AND NOW DECEASED. THEY TOLD US, HEY, COPS, NO ONE TOLD US IT WAS COPS AT THE VERY BEGINNING. WE JUST KNEW THERE WERE PEOPLE. JIM, EVERY TIME WE COVERED THESE I'M STRUCK BY HOW PEOPLE WHO ARE WRAPPED UP IN THESE THINGS KNOW WHAT TO DO. THEY'VE HEARD RUN, HIDE, FIGHT. THAT MESSAGE WENT OUT AT ONE POINT TODAY TO PEOPLE ON THE CAMPUS THERE. IT MUST CHANGE THE JOB OF LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS RESPONDING, KNOWING THAT PEOPLE SORT OF KNOW WHAT TO DO. &gt;&gt; RIGHT. AND THESE YOUNG WOMEN WERE VERY SMART, THEY WERE ALERT, THEY LISTENED TO THE WARNINGS, THEY ASSESSED THEIR SURROUNDINGS, LIKE THEY SAID THEY HAD A LOT OF WINDOWS, THEY KNEW THAT WAS A DANGER. THEY LOCKED DOWN FOR 30 MINUTES AND EVACUATED. SO THEY WERE VERY SMART. THAT'S WHAT EVERYBODY HAS TO DO, AND UNFORTUNATELY IN AMERICA THAT'S WHAT A LOT OF OUR CITIZENS DO DO, BUT IT'S YOUR LAST CHANCE WHEN SOMEBODY HAS FIREARMS ON A MURDER SPREE. &gt;&gt; THERE IS A REPORT WE'RE HEARING THAT THERE IS NO SIGN OF A SECOND SUSPECT, BUT A LOT OF THE ACTIVITY WE SEE, I ASSUME, IS LOOKING FOR THAT POSSIBILITY IN A CASE LIKE THIS? &gt;&gt; YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO DO IT, LESTER. WE ALWAYS HAVE TO LOOK AND SEE IF THERE'S A CONSPIRATOR. SOMETIMES THERE IS, LIKE COLUMBINE HAD TWO. OF COURSE, THEY ASCRIBED TO NAZI PHILOSOPHY. IT'S HARD TO GET SOME PERSON TO JOIN INTO YOUR MASS KILLING FANTASY, UNLESS YOU'RE PART OF SOME KIND OF ORGANIZED TERROR GROUP OR MOVEMENT, THEN YOU CAN HAVE MULTIPLE SHOOTERS. BUT WHEN IT'S JUST ONE PERSON WHO JUST WANTS TO SEEK REVENGE OR HAS SOME KIND OF MENTAL ISSUE OR REVENGE ISSUE, IT'S HARD TO ENLIST SOMEONE ELSE FOR THAT. SO MOST OF THESE ARE SINGLE PEOPLE, BUT IF IT LAPSES INTO TERROR OR NAZIISM OR HATE CRIMES, THEN SOMETIMES YOU CAN HAVE MULTIPLE SHOOTERS. &gt;&gt; AS WE SAID FROM THE TOP, WE DON'T HAVE A CONFIRMATION OF HOW MANY CASUALTIES THERE MAY BE LINKED TO ALL OF THIS. BUT I WOULD THINK THAT BECOMES A PROBLEM SET OF ITS OWN, MAKING SURE THAT YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR POTENTIAL VICTIMS ARE, WHERE THIS PERSON WAS. &gt;&gt; RIGHT, WHEN YOU GET DISPATCHED, IT'S CHAOS ALL AROUND, IT'S THE FOG OF WAR FOR THE PATROL OFFICERS GETTING THERE. THEY'RE LASER FOCUSED ON LOCATING THE ACTIVE KILLER. HERE WE HAVE ONE MOVING BETWEEN BUILDINGS. HE WAS AT THIS BEAM STUDENT BUILDING AND THEN HE WENT TO THE STUDENT UNION, BY ALL THE WITNESS REPORTS. AND WE'VE SEEN THAT BEFORE. WE SAW IT AT VIRGINIA TECH. WHEN THEY START MOVING AROUND THESE LARGE URBAN CAMPUSES, IT MAKES IT MORE DIFFICULT FOR THE POLICE BECAUSE THEY'RE CHASING BEHIND THE KILLER. WE DON'T KNOW IF HE KILLED HIMSELF OR THE POLICE KILLED HIM OR SOMEBODY ELSE KILLED HIM. BUT AT LEAST IT'S OVER, AND NOW WE CAN DEAL WITH THE AFTERMATH. &gt;&gt; JIM CAVANAUGH, THANKS. Thompson played three seasons for the Wolfpack from 1972-1975 and was a unanimous first-team All-American selection and ACC Player of the Year each season. Thompson is also one of just five college basketball players ever to win AP National Player of the Year twice. In September, the school announced he would be the first player to have a statue outside of Reynolds Coliseum.
