Slogans Winner

Posted Updated

Wheelman wins the North Carolina slogans contest with the clever “Toes in the water and head in the hills” phrase. It captures the feeling so many people get when they come to this great state. It’s hard to beat the Carolina coast for seafood, great beaches and ocean breezes. The North Carolina mountains are equally as impressive with their glorious vistas, fresh air and colorful characters and crafts.

What is your town’s slogan? What is your county’s slogan? Please share if you know. I think we should come up with a list of the best local slogans and vote for the best of the bunch. I live in the so-called Technology Town of North Carolina. Others still remember Cary as “where better living begins.” Not to be outdone there is neighboring Apex which boasts “the peak of good living.” I enjoy the chamber of commerce rivalries and wars of wordsmiths.

I grew up in Morganton which now calls itself “Nature’s Playground.” I like that a lot and it’s true because of all of the hiking trails, mountain scenery and waterways nearby.

By the way, if Wheelman could email me at bleslie@wral.com, I would like to ship out a nice slogan’s prize!
