I was a little nervous about asking George Karbus to collaborate on a music/photo project. He is a wildlife, water and landscape photographer who has won a slew of international awards. But I needed to find someone whose images would really make an ancient Celtic tune come alive. The song is Calum Sgaire which I learned from my guitar and songwriting mentor Micheal O'Domhnaill of Ireland. It is the eighth track on my new Simple Beauty album.
George graciously accepted my proposal and sent me a series of absolutely stunning photographs of Ireland. I was thrilled to weave these images together with the music and create a new essay for you.
George Karbus lives on the west coast of Ireland. He is a strong enviromentalist: "I try to capture beauties of our fragile world and show everyone the real treasures of life. It is my inspiration for people to live in harmony with nature."
I would love to get your comments on today's music/photo essay.
