Wedding Gift

What was your favorite wedding gift? What made it different, meaningful and memorable? Please share your stories.

I wanted to do something special for my daughter's wedding so I decided to write a song. I thought about putting words to the song but then I thought of how emotional I would be trying to sing the words. So, I opted for an instrumental tune called Lauren Marie. If I wasn't going to write words, I thought, at least I could stitch together some photographs to chronicle her life.

Today I would like to share my slide show with you. The song is part of my new Simple Beauty album. I hope you like this melody. It really comes from the heart.

I also wanted to share a few pictures of the bride and groom. Special thanks to Curtis Brown Photography of Raleigh for allowing us to publish these photographs. Thanks to months of planning and hard work, especially by Lauren and my wife Cindy, the wedding went off without a hitch. Well, we did have a little candle glitch but it was nothing this former acolyte couldn't handle.

The day of the wedding Lauren gave Cindy and me separate letters describing her love for each of us. I cried like a baby reading her beautiful words. The nice thing about this was I got the heavy emotional stuff out of my system before the wedding so I could concentrate on smiling and giving the bride away to her wonderful husband Luke Wolf.

Lauren's letter is the best wedding gift I can think of for a parent. I will cherish it for the rest of my life.
