What is your favorite building in North Carolina? What piece of architecture speaks to you in a special way?

Maybe it’s the gothic elegance of Duke Chapel or a glistening skyscraper in Uptown Charlotte. Feel free to throw in a lighthouse if you’d like: Cape Hatteras, Cape Lookout, Bodie Island, Currituck, Ocracoke and so on. The Biltmore House in Asheville will surely get some strong consideration. I’ve long been fascinated by the geometrical wonder of the State Fairgrounds known as Dorton Arena. I find grace in the stone of country churches and inns including Grove Park. From Manteo to Montreat and beyond there is a lot of interesting architecture across North Carolina.
