Busy weekend

Posted Updated

How was your weekend?  Did you do anything exciting?  Please share your stories.

My weekend was probably a little too busy but a lot of fun. Friday night I emceed a talent show for Reedy Creek Elementary School in Cary. The kids were terrific, including kindergartner Logan Pearson who sang like an angel in her a capella version of "Over the Rainbow."

The Land of Oz theme continued Saturday night. After shrimp and grits at Crooks Corner, we took in "Wicked" at the DPAC. Wow! What a great production.

Earlier in the day, I lunched with family and celebrated the first communion of Kyra Miller. Congrats Kyra! We're proud of you.

Sunday evening I played songs and told stories at Hope Lutheran Church in Wake Forest. What a warm and wonderful congregation! It felt like an evening in Lake Wobegon. Those Lutherans sure are nice people. I even had a chance to reconnect with some former neighbors, the Rasmussens, and meet a man who grew up in Morganton and remembers my family's store. Special thanks to Pastor Wagner, Rick Hall and chef Chris Duke.
