Your Favorite Salads

Spring is right around the corner. Fresh fruits and vegetables will be on the table before you know it. Today's question deals with salads.

What is your all-time favorite salad? What restaurant offers the finest salads?

I thought of this question after visiting 18 Seaboard in Raleigh last weekend. This splendid restaurant had the finest salad I could recall: grilled asparagus with cranberries, sweet potatoes, bacon, bleu cheese and green peppercorn puree.

Elizabeth Gardner's favorite restaurant salad is Annie Get Your Goat Salad at Hayes Barton Grill in Raleigh. I love the name!

My father made a great salad. I salivate just thinking about his famous family Bibb Lettuce Salad. He grew the lettuce in the family garden. He would wash and dry the leaves with tender loving care and top them with freshly chopped tomatoes and a simply delicious oil and vinegar dressing.
