RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police have made an arrest in a break-in and theft of four pit bulls.

Amory Gregory Grant, 17, was taken into custody Wednesday. Police said he fired shots at the front door of the Wake County Animal Care, Control & Adoption Center at 820 Beacon Lake Rd. to gain entrance to the building.

Shelter employees called police at 5:41 p.m. Sunday after discovering the dogs were missing.

Grant is facing charges of firing into an occupied building, breaking and entering and larceny.

The facility was closed at the time of the break-in, but employees were in the building. No one was injured.

One of the stolen pit bulls has been located.
