Jiffy Schnozz: New Nose in Minutes With Injection

A growing number of cosmetic surgeons are using a needle instead of a scalpel.

NEW YORK — A growing number of cosmetic surgeons are using a needle instead of a scalpel.

Faces lifts are gradually losing ground to injections that can smooth wrinkles and products like Restylane that can plump up lips.

"The procedure takes about 10 to 15 minutes to do. It's that simple," said Dr. Cameron Rokhser, a cosmetic surgeon.

For the nose, Rokhser uses a filler called Radius.

"It's a hard substance, so it feels very much the same like the nose," he said.

Rokhser said he can't make the nose smaller or dramatically change its shape. But after the injections and a little molding, he can even out the plane of the nose to eliminate bumps or dents.

Depending on where the procedure is done, it could cost about $1,000. Also, as with Botox and other fillers, patients have to keep coming back to maintain the look.

But for Morgan Mizrihi and Kristen Lehner, the small structural changes to their noses make a big difference. And skipping surgery is the best part of the procedure, they said.

"I was always afraid of surgery, always afraid of anesthesia," Mizrihi said.

"I don't want to be out of work. I don't want to look like I got a nose job," Lehner said.
