FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A controversial change to the school start time in Cumberland County is not expected to happen any time soon.
School officials are backing off a plan to start the day at Westover and 71st High Schools as much as two hours later. Under the plan, students would have been in class from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m..
Supporters said the change would give high schoolers more time to sleep in as well as help out with school bus schedules.
