The Salvation Army of Durham is accepting applications through Friday for families who anticipate needing help during the holiday season. The Salvation Army helps thousands of families each year with Thanksgiving meals and Christmas gifts, primarily through the Angel Tree program.

Registration starts for Angel Tree program
DURHAM, N.C. — The Salvation Army of Durham is accepting applications through Friday for families who anticipate needing help during the holiday season. The organization helps thousands of families each year with Thanksgiving meals and Christmas gifts, primarily through the Angel Tree program.

To sign up, visit the Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club gymnasium, 909 Liberty St. Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. or from 1 to 3:30 p.m. daily.

Applicants should bring: a photo ID, birth certificates and Social Security cards for all members of the household, documentation of all bills paid in the home and all income received in the home (e.g., lease, food stamps, utilities).

The Salvation Army is also looking for organizations to sponsor Angel Trees and volunteers to ring bells for the annual Red Kettle drive and to deliver groceries and presents. Volunteers can call Debbie Avolin at 919-688-7306 ext. 111.
