WakeMed has received approval to construct a new emergency medical center in Rolesville, marking a significant development in healthcare accessibility for the local community.
Carolyn Knaup, senior VP of strategic ventures at WakeMed, told WRAL News that "time is critical" in emergency care and in the expansion, which will serve Rolesville's booming population.

The closest option for Rolesville residents currently seeking emergency care is WakeMed North on Falls of Neuse Road. That drive takes approximately 20 minutes from the heart of Rolesville, but health officials say traffic and construction often make the trip longer.
WakeMed expects to serve almost 8,000 patients in Rolesville once the center opens in 2027.
The proposed site is strategically located across from Rolesville Middle School, ensuring that medical services are conveniently accessible for families and individuals.
The project is expected to provide between 80-90 new jobs and cost just shy of $54 million.
