Lidl confirms new Garner store opening in early 2023

"We are putting the final touches on our Garner store and expect it to open in early 2023. As we set the grand opening date and have more to share, we will keep in close contact," a spokesperson for the company shared with WRAL on Dec. 23, 2022.

The Garner area has been waiting patiently for the grocer to open since the news first came out in August 2021 that the store might be taking over the old Kroger location in the Garner Towne Square Shopping Center on Hwy 70.

Information about the possible Garner Lidl was first shared in August 2021 on the Garner Biz Facebook page and the Garner Towne Square August 2021 Construction Newsletter also showed Lidl as a future tenant.

We reached out to Lidl back in August 2021 for confirmation of the new store and a company spokesperson shared, "It is too early in the process to offer details on this site at this time, however we will be sure to keep in close contact with you as we have more to share in the future on sites in the Raleigh area. We look forward to continuing our expansion and serving more customers and communities."

On July 19, 2022, a spokesperson for Brixmore Property Group, which handles the Garner Towne Square shopping center, shared the following statement with WRAL via e-mail:

"Thank you for your interest in Garner Towne Square. LIDL is currently under construction on their 30,795 square foot store. We defer to LIDL who prefers to announce their opening date."

Each product on Lidl shelves will be rigorously tested to ensure that it meets our high quality standards. Several items have already won acclaim in the United States, including award-winning cheeses recognized in the 2017 Los Angeles International Dairy Competition, and a range of baby products that have earned the Parent-Tested, Parent-Approved seal of approval.

Lidl Surprises: Lidl offers an ever-changing selection of non-food products each week that will be in stores for a limited time. The selection will include fitness gear, small kitchen appliances, toys, and outdoor furniture, among other non-food items.
