Let your little ones be 'Amazing Athletes' at Go Ask Mom's June 15 event
Amazing Athletes, a new sports and fitness program for kids ages 2 1/2 to 6 will be offering a free program during our event at North Hills Kids. Find out what it's all about.
Posted — UpdatedThe program, which is relatively new to the area, is a sports-based fitness program designed for kids 18 months to 6 years - though the primary group it serves is from about 2 1/2 to 6 years.
The program offers kids the basic fundamentals of nine ball sports, such as football, soccer and volleyball. Developmental skills, including hand-eye coordination, gross and fine motor skills, and speed and agility, also are a focus. Each 35-minute program includes instruction on a participatory sport, such as volleyball or soccer, and a waiting sport, such as tennis or golf.
The goal is to build confidence and improve coordination while promoting a healthy and active lifestyle. Most of the classes are held at area preschools, but the local franchise has begun to offer them for free on some days (including next Wednesday) at North Hills Kids, the free program with activities for kids all summer. They are working to offer the classes on the other side of North Hills, across Six Forks Road, starting later this summer. They also are available for birthday parties.
Morse tells me the program is fun for kids and their parents. (I bet it's really adorable to see some of the little ones).
"They don't even realize they're learning anything, they're having so much fun," Morse tells me.
Bring your kids to their free class at 9 a.m. Wednesday during our event at North Hills Kids! The focus that morning will be on volleyball and tennis.
We'll also have free child IDs, a free Stroller Strides class at 9 a.m., a free snack/craft from Lil' Chef, a visit from Mix 101.5 and Lynda Loveland, more snacks and crafts and North Hills' Kids big foam blocks. We'll be there from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
