Lena Dunham revela en Instagram que padece el síndrome Ehlers-Danlos

I could lie and say it was an early Halloween look (Don’t you get it? I’m going as a con woman leaving a Florida Keys jail after being acquitted of murdering her husband, and now she’s trying to get disability license plates.) But the truth is just: This is what life is like when I’m struggling most with chronic illness. An Ehler-Danlos syndrome flare means that I need support from more than just my friends… so thank you, sweet cane! For years, I resisted doing anything that would make my physical situation easier, insisting that a cane would “make things weird.” But it’s so much less weird to actually be able to participate than to stay in bed all day. And yes, you'd better believe I'm wearing my nightgown. I was walking four feet to the car to go to the doctor and I wanted to be full cozy. I mean, didn't Bieber wear hotel slippers for like five years? Yeah, so I can wear my glamour nighty for two hours. And then an hour later, I’m in a meeting look tackling the job I love. “Así es la vida cuando más estoy luchando con enfermedades crónicas”, escribió. “Un brote del síndrome de Ehler-Danlos significa que necesito apoyo de algo más que de mis amigos… ¡así que gracias, dulce bastón!”.

Dunham, de 33 años, ha compartido detalles sobre su salud anteriormente, como su aumento de peso, histerectomía, problemas de salud mental y endometriosis. El síndrome de Ehlers-Danlos aparentemente no es nada nuevo.

“Durante años, me resistí a hacer cualquier cosa que facilitara mi situación física, insistiendo en que un bastón ‘haría las cosas raras'”, escribió. “Pero es mucho menos extraño poder participar que quedarse en la cama todo el día. Y sí, será mejor que creas que estoy usando mi camisón. Caminaba (en la foto) un metro hacia el auto para ir al médico y quería sentirme completamente cómoda”.

Dunham se las arregló para lanzar una broma.

“Podría mentir y decir que fue un atuendo temprano de Halloween (¿No lo entiendes? Voy como una estafadora que sale de la cárcel de los Cayos de Florida después de ser absuelta de asesinar a su esposo, y ahora está tratando de obtener placas de discapacidad)”.

Dunham es la segunda celebridad en un mes en revelar que tienen el síndrome de Ehlers-Danlos.

La cantante Sia tuiteó que tiene la enfermedad neurológica y “sufre de dolor crónico”.

El síndrome de Ehlers-Danlos es un grupo de trastornos que afecta los tejidos conectivos que sostienen la piel, los huesos, los vasos sanguíneos y otros órganos y tejidos, según la Biblioteca de Medicina del Instituto Nacional de Salud. Muchas personas con esta afección tienen una piel suave y frágil, hematomas y cicatrizan fácilmente.
