Lee County deputy shot, expected to be okay says county commissioner
Lee County commissioner Cameron Sharpe said a suspect is in custody after a Friday night shooting that left a Lee County deputy shot.
WITH PEOPLE INSIDE. THE JUVENILE WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE. THE OTHER PEOPLE AT THE HOME WERE NOT HEARD. >>> THERE IS MORE BREAKING NEWS. A DEPUTY WAS SHOT. THIS HAPPENED OUTSIDE OF SAMFORD. WHAT CAN YOU TELL US AT THIS HOUR? >> Reporter: YOU CAN SEE BEHIND ME JUST A FEW LAW ENFORCEMENT UNITS REMAIN. WE GOT REPORTS AROUND 9:15 THAT A LEE COUNTY SHERIFF DEPUTY WAS SHOT. WE IMMEDIATELY CAME OUT HERE. WE WERE FIRST ON THE SCENE. WE MET WITH SOME OF THE OFFICIALS. WERE NOT ABLE TO GIVE US INFORMATION. WE ARE WAITING ON OFFICIAL WORD FROM THE LEE COUNTY SHERIFF. WE WANT TO IDENTIFY THE DEPUTY. AN ARREST WAS MADE. WE DID HAVE CONFIRMATION THAT A DEPUTY WAS SHOT. THE DEPUTY WAS SHOT IN HIS BULLETPROOF VEST. HE IS EXPECTED TO BE COMPLETELY FINE AS A RESULT OF THE SHOOTING. REMARKABLE DETAILS ARE COMING OUT. WE DO NOT KNOW HOW THE SHOOTING TOOK PLACE. WE DO NOT KNOW IF THE DEPUTY WAS RESPONDING TO A CALL.
