DURHAM, N.C. — A Durham family is thankful they're alive after a massive fire at their home on Thursday morning.

According to the Durham Fire Department, one child and one adult were inside the home on Rhyn Court when the fire broke out before 7:15 a.m.

The family of four will be forced to move out of their home due to significant fire and water damage to the roof, officials said.

At 7:45 a.m., clouds of smoke and massive flames were visible from Sky 5 as crews worked to control the fire, which started in the attic. Firefighters even saved a goldfish from the fire, carrying it out of the smoke-filled home in a glass jar.

The cause of the fire was not yet determined.

Francisco Murcia dropped to his knees to pray and told WRAL he was thanking God that his family was safe.

His son told WRAL he managed to get his father's guitars out of the home before they were damaged.

This story will be updated when more information is available.
