Anyone speak K'iche' or Mam? Immigration courts overwhelmed by indigenous languages
An increase in the number of migrants who speak only indigenous languages is adding to delays in a court system that is already overwhelmed by a backlog of more than 800,000 cases. Now the courts do not have enough translators to serve them, pushing the system to its limits, many lawyers, interpreters and advocates say.
