DURHAM, N.C. — The North Carolina Department of Transportation poured concrete Tuesday morning to repair a guardrail broken in a wreck along northbound U.S. Highway 15-501 near Cornwallis Road.

The outermost northbound lane remained closed Tuesday while repairs were done. A DOT spokesman said the work could be complete as early as Tuesday evening.

Durham police say Miguel Angel Pina Mata caused the closure after his car struck the guardrail at about 6 p.m. Sunday.

Mata, 34, of Pinegate Circle, was charged with DWI, careless and reckless driving and possession of an open container of alcohol, Durham Police spokeswoman Kammie Michael said Monday.
