Posted — UpdatedTickets are on sale now for North Carolina's Land of Oz theme park, which reopens for three weekends in September.
The 1970s theme park carved into the naturally magical landscape atop Beech Mountain has been a draw for families for decades. Out of commission since 1980, it reopens for a select few weekends each year, allowing visitors a chance to explore iconic childhood memories like the yellow brick road, Dorothy's house, the Wicked Witch's castle, the haunted forest and the majestic gates of Oz.
This autumn, access to the park will be available on Sept. 9-11, 16-18 and 23-25. General admission tickets are priced at $55 according to the website. Children under 2 are free admission.
The website also offers an Over the Rainbow experience on the Observation Deck, as well as a Scenic Lift Ride, which the website says lasts 12 minutes and takes "a trip into the clouds, to the front gates of the park."
The Land of Oz is the highest elevated theme park on the east coast – making the vista point from atop Beech Mountain feel like flying 'way above the chimney tops.'
