Lake Wheeler beach in Raleigh re-opened

RALEIGH, N.C. — Wake County has reopened recreational swimming areas at Lake Wheeler beach after closing it because of elevated levels of bacteria.

 

The beach closed Wednesday after routine tests found levels of enterococci bacteria exceeded Environmental Protection Agency standards.

Follow-up tests showed levels were within EPA standards for two consecutive days.
