KNIGHTDALE, N.C. — A man is charged following a crash that injured a mother and her two children late Christmas Eve.

Lacy Raymond Bunn, 68, of Knightdale faces charges of felony hit and run with injury and driving while impaired.

According to troopers with the N.C. State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred late Monday night before 11 p.m. on Interstate 87 near Exit 423 for Interstate 540 in Knightdale. All northbound lanes were closed near the crash site.

Troopers said three cars were involved. The car driven by Bunn struck a second car, causing both cars to spin out. Bunn's car came to a rest in the right lane, and the car carrying the mother and children slammed into the back of it.

The family of three was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

Bunn was being held Tuesday in the Wake County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
