DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police were investigating after the letters "KKK" were spray painted on a garage door in the 2400 block of Vintage Hill Drive.

A second door was painted with the message, "Come buy this house." A for sale sign is in the home's front yard.

Images of the graffiti were shared on social media Monday, including posts on Instagram and Next Door, where residents of the Treyburn neighborhood expressed dismay.

Once police arrived, they put up the garage doors, keeping the graffiti from view.

After photos circulated on social media of racial slurs and "KKK" on the garage doors of a Durham home, police were on the scene and the doors raised.
