KINSTON, N.C. — A Kinston mother is behind bars under no bond charged with an open count of murder in the death of her infant son.
WITN.com reports Heather Nicole Lipscomb was arrested on July 4 and charged with murder. The Lenoir County Sheriff's Office Facebook page stated Lipscomb was charged with an open count of murder. She was being held at the Lenoir County Detention Center under no bond.

Deputies investigated an infant death on April 22 at 1524 Roanoke Ave. in Kinston. Officials said Lipscomb called 911 to say her 21-month-old son was limp and not responding. Firefighters and law enforcement responded but the child was pronounced dead.

Deputies conducted a crime scene investigation and conducted interviews of the persons present at the time. An autopsy was requested from the N.C. Medical Examiners Office in Greenville. The results of that autopsy were reported to detectives that showed the infant had suffered traumatic injuries that led to or caused the death of the child and proper medical attention was not given.

Detectives then built a timeline of the events that led up to the death and later arrested Lipscomb.
