Kidzu remains closed this month, but begins free outdoor series for families
The opening of Kidzu Children's Museum is still delayed. But the museum is planning regular free activities for families this month to make up for it.
Posted — UpdatedBut museum leaders still want to offer some family activities. On Tuesday, it is launching a new outdoor program series called Plazapoolza atop the Wallace Plaza in downtown Chapel Hill.
The programs include storytimes, crafts, games and more. They'll be offering a new active game each week, including bowling, mini golf, scooter mazes and more. Programs will take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays throughout September. Events will be held weather permitting and will be canceled if there is a storm (something to keep an eye on this week).
Here's what's on tap for this week:
- Tuesday: 10 a.m., preschool storytime; 11:15 a.,m. to 12:15 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 4 pm., crafts; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., games and activities.
- Thursday: 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., crafts; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., games and activities.
- Friday: 10:30 a.m., preschool storytime; 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., crafts; and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., games and activities.
- Sunday: 1:15 p.m. to 4:15 p.m., crafts, games and activities.
Wallace Plaza, which will eventually be the site of Kidzu's permanent home, is located atop the Wallace Deck at the corner of East Rosemary and Henderson Streets in downtown Chapel Hill.Public parking is available in the Wallace Deck. Kidzu is designed for kids ages 0 to 8.
