Ken Smith's Favorite Beaches

WRAL's Ken Smith gives us his five favorite beaches.

Beach season is upon us, and we asked the folks in the newsroom to share with us their own beach-related Five Faves! WRAL's Ken Smith gave us his Five Favorite Beaches.

Outer Banks - It’s my favorite because some of my favorite restaurants are along the Outer Banks. Spend a week in the Outer Banks and every night you can get a great meal at a terrific restaurant. Of course, no one can top breakfast at Stack ‘Em High!

Cape Lookout - I’m a huge lighthouse fanatic and the lighthouse at the Cape is the center piece of that unspoiled beach area.

Wrightsville Beach - I like Wrightsville Beach for its proximity to the nightlife in nearby Wilmington. It’s a terrific area to enjoy family-friendly activities during the day and fun-filled outings at night.

Carolina Beach - I like Carolina Beach as a quiet getaway.

Atlantic Beach - I like Atlantic Beach for the swimming. The waves at times can be challenging but that’s what makes swimming there fun and interesting.
