RALEIGH, N.C. — K&W Cafeteria in Cameron Village has closed its doors permanently.

A sign informing customers of the closure was posted on the door of the restaurant located at 511 Woodburn Road. The sign urged customers to dine at the other K&W Raleigh location at 3620 Bastion Lane in the Tower Market Place Shopping Center.

"Due to the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic on our overall business and the disproportionate effect the virus has had on our guest demographics, K&W had to make the difficult decision to exit several of our markets," K&W Cafeterias President Dax Allred told WRAL News. "We are encouraging our employees to transfer to neighboring area locations where possible. We also hope to serve our many loyal guests at nearby K&W Cafeteria locations."

K&W Cafeterias continues to operate 18 locations across the Carolinas and Virginia.

The Goldsboro location of K&W Cafeteria has also closed, according to the Goldsboro Daily News.

The Winston-Salem-based chain was started in 1937 and has 18 locations in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. There is no word on how many locations of the cafeteria chain have closed permanently as a result of the coronavirus.
