WOODLAND, N.C. — A 44-year-old man was arrested Thursday night in connection with a shooting in Northampton County that left one woman dead and a second critically wounded, authorities said.

Northampton County deputies responded to a reported shooting at the Arrowhead Mobile Home Park in Woodland at about 11 p.m. Wednesday and found Angelec Wiggins, 34, dead outside a home. A 47-year-old woman lay wounded next to her.

The second woman, whose name hasn't been released, was taken to an undisclosed hospital, where she was in critical condition, authorities said.

On Thursday, investigators obtained warrants charging Keith Morris Hyman, of Windsor, with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

Deputies from Northampton, Bertie and Hertford counties surrounded Hyman's home, but he had already fled, authorities said. Police K-9s then tracked him through nearby fields and woods for more than three hours before deputies found him and took him into custody.

He was being held without bond Friday in the Northampton County jail.
