K-9 shot and under treatment in S. Carolina, sheriff says

GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. — Deputies are investigating after an hours-long standoff ended early Thursday, WYFF reports.

Deputies, SWAT and K-9 officers responded to the home on Gunter Road near West Georgia Road in Piedmont Wednesday night.

Gunshots were heard and deputies are using a megaphone trying to communicate with those involved, according to neighbors.

A K-9 was shot in the head and leg and was rushed to the vet, according to Sheriff Hobart Lewis with Greenville County Sheriff's Office.

According to Lewis, the K-9 officer is alive and being treated.

WYFF News 4 is working to confirm more information on how the standoff ended.
