Chapel Hill, N.C. — A new canine is joining the Chapel Hill Police Department,
The German shepherd, named Mando, comes all the way from Poland through Ventosa Kennels in Scotland Neck.
Chapel Hill's K-9 unit assists the police force in arresting suspects. Mando will be trained to detect narcotics, search buildings and find evidence.
The new canine will be trained by Officer Jason Belcher in the K-9 unit.
Mando will replace Ace, who worked with Chapel Hill police for four years.
"We are sure he will help show Mando the ropes," town officials said in a statement. "Mando will likely tell him the stories from the shift when he returns home to keep Ace connected to the career in which he served so well.”
