DURHAM, N.C. — A March 19 traffic stop in Craven County led to a drug bust at a storage facility in Durham.

When deputies from the Craven County Sheriff's Office conducted the traffic stop in their area, they seized 3 kilos of cocaine, $175,000 in cash and firearms and received information on a large quantity of drugs being stored 135 miles away in Durham County.

Durham investigators and a K-9 responded to a storage unit and uncovered approximately 13 kilos, or 28 pounds, of uncut cocaine.

"This is a clear example of the excellent working relationship we have with fellow law enforcement across the entire state of North Carolina," said Durham County Sheriff Clarence F. Birkhead.

Two men were charged in connection to the incidents. According to the Durham County Sheriff's Office, the total street value of the drugs is worth $3.5 million.

Saul Hernandez of Snow Camp was arrested in Greensboro and charged in Craven County with three counts of trafficking cocaine. He was being held in the Alamance Co. jail on a $200,000 bond.
